European Championships Winter Triathlon Laky Mlatky / SVK

Worst weather conditions (warm and rain) were during the European championships. The course was not ideal for me so I finished 6^th.

Elite Man and Elite Women were dominated by Norway.
The Austrians didn't have a good race: Carina Wasle got unfortunatley 2^nd and Sigi Bauer 6^th.

Felix Waldhuber was the only gold medalalist for Austria. But he overtook the Russian junior only a few meters before finish.

Austrian Championships Winter Triathlon Kaprun / Salzburg

I became Austrian Champion in age group under 23.
After my victories in the age groups juniors (15-16 and 17-18) I was able to continue my success in Winter Triathlon in the age group U23 (19-22).

In Kaprun were about 30 k to do (6.3 km cross running 13 km mountainbiking and 10 km cross country skiing).
The course was flat, covered with snow and very fast but not too difficult.

The total winner was Pavel Jindra (Czech Republic) ahead of Sigi Bauer / Austria. Carina Wasle / Austria won the female category.

"Silvester-Run" 2008

I closed the year traditionally by taking part at the "Silvester-Run" in Vienna.

In spite of the freezing conditions (-5 degrees Celsius and ice cold wind) approximatley 2200 competitors took part.

My time for the 5,4 k was quite ok for that time of the year. I finished as 4^th in the U20 and 20^th overall.

Skiing in Tyrol at the Hintertuxer Glacier under marvelous conditions was my personal start in the "Winter Season" Nov 8^th and 9^th

Since I've concentrated on mountainbiking, cross country skiing and later on triathlon (Xterra, Olympic distance, winter triathlon) I haven't touched my alpine skies for three years.
As I took part in alpine ski races at age 10 - 15 (rather successfully) every weekend, therefore I had no problems with skiing. After a couple of turns I was back.
As you can see I had lots of fun.

In Hinterux at the summer ski training (in the morning) I discovered my passion for mountainbiking (in the afternoon) years ago.
Also these days, after skiing, I did a cross country run (8 k) from Hintertux to Vorderlanersbach where we had our accommodation.

My father was in beautiful Tyrol / Austria with some international colleagues from UK and South Africa.
