Uphill Time Trail Klausen-Leopoldsdorf My friend and training partner Gerald Lahmer made a proposal to take part in an uphill time trail. This 8,1km time trail was an awesome workout for my speed. I got 2nd and Gerald 6th. |

05 / 03 / 2009 Duathlon Ternitz – Austrian Championships This was my first Austrian championship as an U23 athlete I finished on 7th place, but I wasn't content with my performance. I think that I've overpaced the first kilometre (about 3:05/k). Maybe this was the reason for my weak bike performance. It was a race for the old and experienced athletes. All top five were older than 30. The women race won Marlies Penker. |

04 / 25 / 2009 Duathlon Moosburg (Carinthia) The Duathlon (Run - Bike - Run) in Moosburg / Carinthia was my first competition this summer. Only a few hours before the race started it was turned into a draft-legal race. Winners and some other athletes had to do a doping contol. I won the non-draft race overall and had a lead over the second by 1 1/2 minutes. I think my training in Florida was really effective. |

04 / 05 / 2009 Training at NTC Clermont / Florida My last easter holidays I spent in Florida for my triathlon training. Because of the perfekt conditions I've chosen the National Training Center in Clermont, FL. For my swim workouts there's a 25 x 50 meter pool and my splits are getting better. Some mid-size snakes (dead or alive) lying on the roads around here really force you to go faster than normal... |

15 / 02 / 2009 World Championship Winter Triathlon Gaishorn / Styria / Austria Strong snowfall, wrong wax and ski choice prevented a top result at the wintertriathlon worldchampionship in Gaishorn / Austria. Next day the relay was on schedule. It wasn't sure if there would be an "Austria 2" Team, but about 2 hours before start three athletes (including me) were found who teamed up. I did a quite well job and my skis were much better because of the changed snow conditions. The mens elite competition was dominated by Norway who got gold and silver.
Austrian Sigi Bauer only finished 4th altough he had a great bike split. |
