03 / 13 / 2011 VCM Winter Running Series - Vienna Rank 2 on the 7k distance After I won the first two events of the VCM Winter Running Series in Vienna, I was one of the favorites for the 3rd race. Due to intensive preparation for some exams at the Technical University in Vienna, I could not do my usual training program this week. Before the start it was clear that it would be very difficult to repeat the winning times of my first two races, although the running and the weather conditions were perfect. As usual some very strong runners were on the start line. In the end I was only four seconds behind my 3rd win. This time my father was also taking part, but he could not support me. After 35:18 he finished over 11 minutes behind me, but ran faster than expected. On 03/27 I have another chance at the LCC "Polar Bear Run" on the same track to improve my time. Winter Sports Week in Wagrain / Salzburg Right after the race in Vienna, I head for Wagrain, where the Winter Sports Week from my Sports Equipment Technology study starts Monday. Different disciplines like alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding each morning are on the mandatory program. In the afternoons I'll continue with my triathlon training. Of course I got my bike with me. My next competitions: |

02 / 13 / 2011 Two Weeks Training in Fuerteventura / Spain From 01/29/2011 - 02/12/2011 intense triathlon training in Fuerteventura was on schedule. A lot of the very best international triathletes took the opportunity of ideal training conditions on this Canary Island (Spain), 120k off the coast of Africa. Some of the world's best athletes spend months on this islands for training. Example for a workout schedule: More than 1000 km on my bike took me on almost all roads on the mountainous Canary Island.
Sometimes strong headwinds intensified the training effect.
To keep up with some of the world's best triathlon bikers was surprisingly easy (especially in the mountains). Fuerteventura - Las Playitas - is highly recommendable to every athlete during pre-season. Back in Austria I have to get used to lower temperatures - but the training goes on as well as college in Vienna. Outlook for 2011: VCM runs in the Vienna Prater: 1/23 - 7 k, 2/20 - 7 k, 3/13 - 7 k My next competition: |
